Booster Club Volunteer Opportunities

The Booster Club has a need for MANY volunteers. Did you know the concession stand is one of the primary ways the Booster Club raises funds to support DCG student athletes and programs? If you have a student athlete (or just like to volunteer) please consider taking a shift to help out!

Concession Stand Volunteer FAQ
Q: If I have a student athlete, am I required to volunteer?
A: Parents of athletes are our core group of volunteers that help with concession stands. While it’s not required, it is strongly encouraged that everyone pitch in for a shift or two. Remember, the proceeds from the stands are benefitting your student athletes!
Q: How will I know what to do when I arrive?
A: Every concession stand shift includes a trained “Overseer” – a Booster Club member with working knowledge of the stand. They will help you get situated and show you what to do so you can be a helpful member of the crew! If any questions pop up while you’re working – the Overseer is your go-to person.
Q: How long do shifts last?
A: The length of shifts vary based on the event, but most shifts are 2 – 2.5 hours. If you’re able to work most of a shift but might have to come late or leave early, that’s completely fine! Just communicate this when you arrive (or email volunteer@dcgboosterclub.com in advance).
Q: Do I have to work with money?
A: Nope! We have options for food prep jobs or grabbing drinks for people at the counter. If you prefer not to work with money, you won’t have to!
Q: Do I have to pay to attend the event if I’m working in the concession stand?
A: If you’re only working your volunteer shift you will not have to pay game admission fees (just tell them you’re working in the stand when you arrive). But, if you plan to attend a game before or after your shift, you will need to use your activities pass or purchase a game ticket for attendance.
Q: Can students help in the concession stands?
A: High school students are welcome to work in the concession stand, and can earn silver cord hours for volunteering. Otherwise, we ask that only kids age 12 and older are in the stand and always with adult supervision. Of course, special circumstances might pop up and we can always make an exception if you need to bring your younger kiddo along for a shift.
Q: Can my business or organization volunteer as a group?
A: Yes! We love it when we have groups volunteer to staff the stand for a night. It’s a great way to gain exposure for your business or organization in front of all the concession stand customers. If you’d like to volunteer as a group, please contact us at volunteer@dcgboosterclub.com to discuss details.
Q: What types of jobs are there to do in the concession stands?
A: Every set of hands is a big help when the concession stand is hopping! Here are some of the common roles in the stand:
- Morning prep: this person comes in the morning of an event to start the crock pots.
- Overseer: this person is trained to open and close the stand. They are like a manager for the crew.
- Food prep: this person is on the food prep line and could be making walking tacos, hotdogs, hamburgers, pork sandwiches, nachos, mac & cheese, etc.
- Counter service: this person takes the orders, collects money and makes change.
- Runner: this person helps fulfill orders by gathering drinks, popcorn, or whatever else is needed.
The whole team helps to set up, clean up, and re-fill supplies throughout the event.
