Help Fill Spring Volunteer Spots!

Spring is here and we need MANY volunteers to help manage the concession stands for various soccer, track, and junior high events. If you have a student athlete (or just like to volunteer), please consider signing up to help.

Concession Stand Volunteer FAQ

Q: How will I know what to do when I arrive?

A: Every concession stand shift includes a trained “Overseer” – someone who has complete working knowledge of the stand. They will help you get situated and show you what to do so you can be a helpful member of the crew! If any questions pop up while you’re working – the Overseer is your go-to person.

Q: How long do shifts last?

A: The length of shifts vary based on the event, but most shifts are 2 – 2.5 hours. If you’re able to work most of a shift but might have to come late or leave early, that’s completely fine! Just communicate this when you arrive (or email volunteer@dcgboosterclub.com in advance).

Q: Do I have to work with money?

A: Nope! We have options for food prep jobs or grabbing drinks for people at the counter. If you prefer not to work with money, you won’t have to!

Q: Do I have to pay to attend the event if I’m working in the concession stand?

A: If you’re only working your volunteer shift you will not have to pay game admission fees (just tell them you’re working in the stand when you arrive). But, if you plan to attend a game before or after your shift, you will need to use your activities pass or purchase a game ticket for attendance.

Q: Can students help in the concession stands?

A: High school students are welcome to work in the concession stand, and can earn silver cord hours for volunteering. Otherwise, we ask that only kids age 12 and older are in the stand and always with adult supervision. Of course, special circumstances might pop up and we can always make an exception if you need to bring your younger kiddo along for a shift.

Q: If I have a student athlete, am I required to volunteer?

A: Parents of athletes are our core group of volunteers that help with concession stands. While it’s not required, it is strongly encouraged that everyone pitch in for a shift or two. Team work makes the dream work!
